Lycaenidae (Bläulinge) Diese Familie besteht aus drei Gruppen, den Feuerfaltern (Lycaenini), den Zipfelfaltern (Theclini und Eumaeini) und den Bläulingen (Polyommatini). Die letzteren weisen einen ausgeprägten Sexualdimorphismus auf, d.h. sie sind in beiden Geschlechtern unterschiedlich gefärbt. Während die Männchen in allen Blautönen schimmern, sind die Weibchen auf der Oberseite braun. In nur wenigen Arten sind beide Geschlechter oberseits braun. Bis auf die Zipfelfalter haben alle Arten dieser Familie auf der Unterseite ein charakteristisches Fleckenmuster. Die Verteilung und Position dieser Flecken wird häufig als Bestimmungsmerkmal benutzt.
