Notodontidae (Zahnspinner) Der Name dieser Nachtfalter bezieht sich auf die schmalen Vorderflügel, deren Hinterrand oft mit einem Schuppenzahn versehen ist. Im Aussehen ähneln sie häufig den Noctuidae (Eulen) oder den Lymantriidae (Trägspinnern). Die Fühler der Männchen sind fiederförmig, wähend die der Weibchen eher fadenförmig sind. Sie kommen oft ans Licht und sitzen dann sehr schnell völlig bewegungslos am Untergrund festgekrallt.
